Axians contacted us when they needed a cover glass solution for a ticket validator for public transportation with a touchscreen display.
Axians´ main challenge was to develop a design solution that could be mechanically integrated with the plastic housing of the device.
The cover glass chosen also had to meet requirements in terms of impact- and scratch resistance, and optical quality at many viewing angles.
Furthermore, they needed a solution with tight dimensional tolerances between both elements. Because of our expertise, we were able to meet these tight tolerances thanks to our modern production processes and quality control.
After close dialogue with Axians, they concluded that our 5mm Cleartech™ with our double-sided clear hard coat surface treatment would be the ideal solution for their application. Not only did we manufacture the solution with tight tolerances, but our solution also met Axians´ other requirements for the cover glass.
First, the solution had to adhere to impact- and water/dust certifications (IK08 and IP54 certifications). Furthermore, the solution had to be scratch-resistant to ensure that the lifetime of the device wasn’t limited by the cover glass solution. Lastly, our cover glass also ensures an optimal view angle in real-life scenarios because of Cleartech™’s market-leading optical quality.
All of these specifications mean a high-quality solution for public transportation equipment like the ticket validator in this case. We manufacture and deliver a complete and machined solution to make mounting and assembly as quick and efficient for Axians as possible.
