Cutting a hole in a box containing electronic components creates a problem: Undesirable transmittance can get out – and electromagnetic noise can get in.
However, with an EMI shielding display filter solution from PSC, you can effectively control internal transmittance and external emission.
PSC’s solution, therefore, minimizes interference with the device while shielding the internal components from external devices and possible intruders.
Solaris Shield™️ is our unique solution which makes it possible to embed a metal mesh directly as an integral part of the acrylic filter, avoiding any issues related to lamination. The embedded mesh on this solution is made of copper.
To meet the specified requirements, it is vital that electrical grounding is made between the entire perimeter of the mesh and the appliance’s housing. This contact can be established by applying conductive silver or nickel paint to the filter’s edge. The filter is mounted in the panel with a conductive gasket or adhesive.
Our Solaris™ Shield solutions can be used in many different application areas.
Whether it be in the defense industry, test and measurement devices, or EMI shielding in the medical industry, as long as there is a display that needs EMI shielding, Solaris™ Shield is an excellent option.
Material
Sheet cast PMMA with EMI-Shielding metal mesh embedded into one single layer.
Mesh orientation
Windows can be cut in all angles between 0 to 90°
The mest is typically orientated 30 to 45° to avoid moiré.
Mechanical processing
Sawing, CNC milling, and laser cutting into the desired size and shape are available and optimized for application-specific needs.
Termination
Conductive silver- or nickel busbar, creating direct contact from mesh wire ends to termination/ground plane.
Surface treatment
Fine Mat™ and Hard Mat™ surface treatments can be applied to Solaris Shield™.
Mesh position
The mesh position is usually close to the rear surface but can also be positioned close to the front surface to fulfill application-specific needs.
When Solaris Shield™ is placed in front of certain displays, optical interference (moiré) can occur if the alignment of the mesh is not optimized with the display pixel matrix. This distracting effect can be avoided by aligning the mesh at a certain angle relative to the display.
Our EMI shielding filters can be mounted at any angle between 0° and 90°, so you never have to worry about moiré from EMI shielding.
