Cognex is the world’s leading provider of vision systems, software, sensors, and industrial barcode readers for manufacturing automation.
To secure this position, they must always live up to high demands on everything from performance to durability and quality of their products.
For Cognex, this means developing systems and parts of the absolute highest quality.
PSC has added great value to our design process with their in-depth knowledge of optical filters. As partners, they have always been constructive, solution-oriented, and realistic in their assessments.
At Cognex, they were developing an ambitious series of barcode readers with very fast read rates and decode speeds that ensure maximal throughput at their customers’ facilities.
They also wanted this product to be able to handle multiple codes and varying symbologies without slowing down.
Finding the perfect optical filter for such an advanced application requires know-how and expertise.
We have been especially impressed with the performance of surface treatments such as VIS + 850nm. PSC has indeed proved the difference a perfect optical filter makes for advanced applications with very difficult product requirements.
Together, we developed a solution suited exactly to this application.
We gave this customized optical filter a VIS+NIR AR anti-reflection coating developed to perfectly match applications where the entire visible spectrum and high near-infrared performance are critical.
We also added a shadow mask to eliminate bouncing light between the different sensors.
All-in-all, this PMMA filter minimizes unwanted reflections and glare to optimize the sensor’s performance – and the solution is sheet-to-part, enabling complete design freedom for Cognex.
Throughout the development process, we have supported Cognex with our consulting service, and in the end, we are proud to have met all requirements and lead times of Cognex.
We are ready to help you with a unique optical filter solution.
