Customizability

Our acrylic can be coated to obtain unique properties depending on your project’s use case and application. You can choose coatings to obtain features on both sides such as:

  • Scratch Resistance
  • Chemical Resistance
  • Salt Water Resistance
  • UV Blocking
  • Anti-glare
  • Anti-reflection
  • … and much more.

What is cast acrylic?

Cast acrylic is a form of PMMA (polymethyl methacrylate) formed by casting the monomer (methyl methacrylate) with initiators and possibly other additives into a form or mold.

Here at PSC, we form this into sheets of cast acrylic. The base material can then be coated and mechanically processed to obtain the features required for the application.

Is cast acrylic better than extruded acrylic?

While there are some technical differences between extruded PMMA and acrylic PMMA, the light transmission etc. of both base materials are mostly too insignificant to matter.

However, there are some specialized applications where cast acrylic is the better option - sometimes because extruded PMMA is simply not a possible option.

What are the benefits of cast acrylic?

Cast acrylic has excellent light transmission, low weight, thickness uniformity, and ease of manufacturing processes.

This makes it a versatile material for a variety of electronic display windows and optical filters.

Is acrylic optically clear?

Acrylic is a great choice for protecting electronic devices such as cameras, sensors, and displays while enhancing their optical performance.

PMMA is often the preferred choice over materials such as thin glass, since it weighs approximately half as much as glass, and is significantly more shatter-proof and durable, especially when coated with surface treatments to obtain various features such as scratch resistance.

What is the difference between acrylic and PMMA?

Acrylic and PMMA is the same thing.

PMMA is just the abbreviation for polymethyl methacrylate, which is the scientific name for acrylic.
